    One day in Los Angeles

    /

One day in Los Angeles: what to do This post It’s all about what we did in los Angeles in one day, but actually we stayed more days. The second day we went to Disneyland, and the other days we made a Pacific coast highway mini road trip  We left our house from Houston at 3am and arrive at Los Angeles airport at 7am. As soon as we arrived we were soooo tired, we met with my parents that also happened to be in Los Angeles and then our itinerary started at noon. 1. Lunch at Grand Central Market When I looked at this place on instragram, I really wanted  to squeeze…

Glamping at Flying Flags Resort at Buellton California

    /

Glamping (glamorous camping) has become one of my favorite things to do since our first glamping experience at Antigua Guatemala last summer. We went to Los Angeles for 4 days, and I wanted so badly to squeeze in our itinerary a mini road trip and drive through the amazing views of highway one. It happened to be Cristian’s birthday, so we celebrated his birthday Glamping at Flying Flags Resort at Buellton California (three and half hours away from Los Angeles). Glamping at Flying Flags Resort When we arrived we were welcome with warm chocolate chip cookies ( yes, my 2 year old daughter already felt in heaven). They offer unique accommodations…

Easy Marshmallow Snowman for hot chocolate

    /

I really enjoy making crafts, mostly during the holidays and even more for Christmas. With a 2 year old around me, I’m always searching for easy and fast crafts, because if you have one of those tiny persons in your life you totally agree with me that their attention span is really short.  I remember that I made this easy Marshmallow Snowman for the first time almost 5 years ago for Sebastian’s school Christmas party. I needed something easy back then because I had to make around 30.  This idea at pinterest really inspired me, it looked so easy, that I decided to make my own version. It was a huge…

    Low Carb Pumpkin mousse Pie

    /

What’s thanks giving dinner without Pumpkin Pie? We started the KetoDiet about two weeks ago, and thank God we got to host thanksgiving at our house, that way we prepared low carb friendly food for everyone. The hardest thing with gluten free/ sugar free/ keto pastry recipes for me is to find something really tasty. I really hate the flavor of stevia, I can’t handle it. On my search for a Low carb Pumpkin Pie recipe online, I found one at Simply so healthy blog, that really caught my attention because they didn’t used stevia, but a granulated stevia/ erythritol blend. Plus the mousse had a crust just like pumpkin…

For the first time I had this feeling that I didn’t wanted to came back from vacations. At the end of every vacation I always have this need to come back to reality, but not this time, I don’t know if it was because it was a short vacation or because how I felt in love with California.  I started planning this trip knowing that my plan could be totally sabotaged by Mia (she is a couple of weeks from the terrific twos ). In effect my plan got sabotaged several times and we made unplanned things that turned out to be amazing. Anyway I wanted to have a plan…

Toddler Tuesday at Discovery Green + Good Dog

    /

I really like Houston parks but it’s hard for me to stay long periods of time outdoors during summer. Usually during summer we have either indoors or splash pads play dates, like story time at The Houston Museum of Modern art.  I was looking for something fun to do because the weather forecast for this week was perfect to do something outdoors without melting and getting sweaty after 5 minutes like a regular Houston summer day.  I saw a Facebook post were Big Kids Small City announced that they were hosting a story time at discovery green; By the way You need to follow Big Kids Small City if you…

    Glamping in Antigua Guatemala

    /

Every summer we visit our family in Guatemala, my parents wanted to spend some quality time with us this time so we went glamping to Antigua Guatemala. We headed to Antigua and had lunch at an amazing restaurant “Los tres tiempos”, it’s located at “La calle del Arco”,  the  decor and food is an inspiration of Guatemala culture, I had a “chuchito souffle” it was delicious.  After lunch we went to the local market and then we checked in at Casa Santo Domingo. If you ever go to Antigua, Casa Santo Domingo is a must visit place, it’s s a luxury one of a kind hotel with a museum, spa,…

    Pineapple sorbet

    /

I can’t find words to describe how spectacular it’s the taste of this sorbet, the cinnamon topping adds a unique flavor! I know! we are just in January and it’s cold, very cold, but over here we love ice cream, especially if it´s homemade. I made the recipe using an ice cream machine but you can do it without a machine. One of the most frequent problems when making sorbets, it’s that as soon as you freeze it, it becomes really hard like a solid brick of ice and loses the soft and smooth texture. I found a blog post “sorbet 101¨ at Zoe Bakes, in which she explains that the…

A weekend in Austin with a toddler

    /

We just came back from Austin and in conclusion we want to move to Austin some day LoL. We felt in love with Austin, we had been there before but we didn’t had the time to explore the city.  We started our trip with a stop at an RC track because the main purpose of the trip was a RC race Cris had that weekend. So we stopped and it was soooo hot! There was no place with AC at the track and you know Texas in the summer, not good without a pool if you are outdoors, Mia didn’t see to mind that much, she was playing with her…

Museum of Fine Arts Houston Playdate + Tiny’s Milk & Cookies

    /

Summer time in Houston immediately calls for indoor locations to play and entertain kids and adults. Since I moved to Houston everyone has recommend me to visit the Museum of Fine Arts, I really never felt a big interest in going until I saw they were having the temporary exhibition Pixel Forest and Worry Will Vanish by Pipilotti Rist, I knew it would be really delightful for Mia and me, a time of stimulation and relaxation at the same time. We went on a Tuesday at 10:45am to the play date they host every Tuesday, it was a unique experience of story time, each month they focus on a different work of art.  They…
