Lavender garden in Guatemala
Jardines De Provenza
Jardines de Provenza is a lavender garden in Guatemala, located in San Mateo Milpas Altas.
For a long time I wanted to visit a lavender field. When I discovered that just a couple of minutes from Antigua Guatemala was a garden with lavender with a volcano in the background, I immediately added it to my summer vacations wish list.
Is it worth it?
I’m going to be honest, I thought that it was a huge lavender field, and it’s more like a garden with lots of lavender. It’s beautiful because of the location, the volcano on the background and the aroma makes it so worthy! Would I go back again?! Yes! I would go back but with my DLSR camera, all the pictures I took were using my iphone.
If you plan to go, have lunch or brunch at Antigua Guatemala, earth lodge or hobbitenango and it would be so much worth it!
Taking Portraits at Jardines de Provenza
Our visit wasn’t really planned, we arrive at 12pm (worst time to take pictures) But even at that time of the day you will find some good spots with shadows. I don’t know if it always windy, but that day was really windy! Remember that it’s all about finding a good angle, have fun and enjoy the lavender.
Things to consider before you go
-Best time to take pictures on the field is in the early morning.
-The road to get to the garden can be a little bit nerve breaking, do not use waze directions. Use the directions they have on their facebook page.
-Cellphone photos are allowed and free.
-If it is a cloudy day the volcano might be covered by clouds.
