    Playa del Carmen with kids

    /

Hello there! We just came back from “La Riviera Maya” (Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum) best spring break ever! We went to the wedding of my husband’s former roommate. Since my husbands friend and his wife were dating, she and I became very good friends, so we were very excited to be able to witness their marriage.  They had everything planned for us and wanted all the guests to stay in the same hotel where they were going to have the wedding reception. The thing is… we were planning the trip with our son (11 years old) and he is on that phase of life were he doesn’t like to play like…

    Marinated cold beef

    /

I have been craving this beef we usually ate at my mom’s house and it’s called carne fría “cold beef”, I haven’t been able to make it before because I wasn’t sure what type of beef I should use, the beef cuts in USA are really different from Latin America. After some research I found out I need to use Round Eye Beef. This recipe is really easy but must be prepared at least 8 hours before eating it. The longer you leave the beef marinating it will more tender and yummier.  Cook the meat for about an hour in a pressure cooker with salt, pepper and garlic (follow instructions of the pressure cooker), if you do not…

    Chocolate Chip cookies

    /

There are many versions and recipes for chocolate chip cookies, some are crispy others are softer, this recipe is the soft version but the taste is extremely addictive. On this occasion I made them for valentines day but you can adapt the decoration to any other occasion. 1 to 2 hours before starting the recipe, take out from the fridge the butter and 1 egg. Mix in a bowl 2 cups flour, 2 teaspoons cornstarch, 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Cream in a mixer 3/4 cup of butter with 3/4 cup of brown sugar and 1/4 cups of sugar. Remember it´s important that the butter is…

Cake topper printable & Easy Lighted Number

    /

We invited some friends over to celebrate Cristian´s  33 birthday, and as always I baked a special homemade cake. This year I was very busy with work and did not have time to decorate it with edible details so I designed a paper cake topper. I also did a super easy project, it pretends to be a lighted number Marquee. No one wants to buy an expensive Marquee for a birthday celebration that will only be used a few hours.  So I made  a disposable version with presentation board and string lights I found in the spot dollar at Target. TO MAKE THE CAKE TOPPER:  1. Download and install the font…

    Water War Birthday Party

    /

My son is growing up so fast! He turned eleven and of course he was not excited anymore about having a cartoon theme birthday party, so I had to think about a new exciting theme according to his age. WATER WAR! He and his friends had a blast! I used neon colors and water splashes for all the decorations.  At the dessert table we had blueberry gelatin, orange cupcakes, cookies, vanilla bean cakepops, orange cake and watermelon and citrus cotton candy!   We gave to each guest a basket with a cookie name tag. Inside the basket they had a water bottle with his name so they can refill through…
