Natural oven cleaner

I came up with this Quick diy natural oven cleaner, because this year I had been switching to greener options.  Honestly it was really easy and quick to make it, I had all the supplies at home. This will be my to go cleaning method from now on to clean the oven.

I usually need to deep clean the oven 2-3 times per year, because we use a lot our oven like 3-4 times per week to bake and broil.

Why Should you make your own Oven Cleaner?

1. It’s easy and fast

2. It’s safer

3. Inexpensive

What do you need to clean your oven:

1/4 cup of water

1 cup of baking soda

Juice of half a lime

1 tbsp Natural dish soap ( you can avoid it, if it isn’t all natural)

Sponge

Gloves

Vinegar

Old cleaner cloth

Before you start:

Give yourself at least 2 hours to clean it. Make sure your oven it’s cool or at room temperature.

Step 1. Mix water, baking soda, soap and lime

Step 2. Remove oven racks, apply the mix to the racks and let it sit while you clean the oven.

Step 3. Spread a thick layer of the paste all over the interior of the oven. I let it sit for about 15 minutes, some recipes indicate to let it sit for hours or even overnight. I was needed to use the oven so I just let it sit for 30 minutes, and it worked great. Probably if I would had let it sit more time, I would had spent less time scrubbing.

Step 4. Wipe out with a sponge and warm water, you can also use a rubber spatula to help scrape off. Rinse and repeat until clean. Be gentle on oven glass, it’s not likely, but it may scratch if you scrub too vigorously.

Step 5.  Spritz oven with a little distilled white vinegar to help remove any residue and make a final wipe down with a cloth.

Step 6. Clean the oven racks, if you have time let them sit more time, it will be easier to scrap off all the grease, if you do not have time use a stiffer sponge or a rubber scrapper.

Hope you find this recipe useful, and let me know if you have any other tip or trick to clean the oven I would love to hear about it.
