Furry, calming and cozy nursery

To decorate Mia’s room, I spent  endless number of hours at Pinterest, trying to discover a theme for the room that I would loved, it was difficult because I wanted something cute but not super feminine (all pink with flowers, etc). After  thousand  hours :p in Pinterest, I made a collage with ideas and things that I liked. I want the nursery to be a cozy and calming space using neutral colors with a touch of pastels like pink and green mint. I also wanted to integrate “furry” animals like bears, sheep, cats, llamas and rabbits.

Furry, cozy, almost neutral nursery inspiration board

1. Sheepskin rug   2. Dream catcher mobile 3. Huge teddy bear 4.We already have this sofa bed for our guests, so I have to find a way to integrate it into the nursery 5. Letters spelling ¨MIA¨ made of wool or any other furry material  6.Convertible ¨grow with me¨crib 7. Cat Pillow or comforter 8. Sheep rocking horse 9. Neutral colors with a little bit of light pink and mint green.

The first thing we chose was the crib, we were looking for a white convertible crib , so we can use it for a long time, not just for a year, I saw this 4 in 1 from Lolly & Me and I fell in love with it. The crib easily converts into toddler bed, day bed  and full-size adult bed, amazing isn´t?

In the room there were lots of handmade details, such as the mobile, wall decoration, kitten pillow, basket tags and bow holder. The stars on the wall were drawn on presentation board and then cut them with an exacto knife, I bought the wood letters  at Target, and the textures at Michaels. The wall decor cost me less than $ 20. To see the tutorial of how to make this wall decorations click here.

My favorite project was  the mobile. I used the same characters I designed for the wallart and for the baby shower.  You can learn how to make this mobile and felt animals here.

The room is not super big, but I found a small wall perfect for the reading corner. You can download free and print the wall art (5 “x 7”) “Dream big little one” in this link. The tiny rocking chair was a gift from some friends, the kitten pillow I made it using fabric paint.

We also bought the changing table at Lolly & Me , just like the crib this is also convertible, you remove the top that holds the mattress and becomes a storage table. The box where I keep the diaper changing accessories is a gardener that I found at Michaels, I love it because I can move it around the house.

I made some dividers for the drawer with presentation board, I followed the tutorial Get glammed up, it was super useful, it saved me from a total disaster.

I bought the baskets at Ikea.  I Add them ribbon and tags made with air dry clay.   Stretch the clay with a roller, cut the circles with a round cookie cutter and the holes I made them with  cake decorating nozzles, print the labels and paste them into the clay tags.

We bought the frames at Ikea, I design these wallart with names of animals in English and Spanish, if you want to download the  free wallart printables click here.
